DCP Projector Hire & Screen Distance Calculator
The cost of hiring a DCP cinema projector from ProScreens depends on your screen size and the distance between the projector and the screen, known as the throw distance. These measurements help us select a suitable projector and lens for your venue.
Use our calculator to estimate how far your projector should be from the screen, or calculate the approximate lens throw ratio needed for your available space.
Calculate Your Projector Distance
How Does the Calculator Work?
Projector distance = projected image width × lens throw ratio.
For example, a 6-metre-wide image with a 1.5:1 throw ratio gives an estimated projector distance of 9 metres. A 1.5–2.0:1 zoom range gives approximately 9–12 metres.
Screen width alone does not determine projector distance. This calculator provides a planning estimate. ProScreens will check the projector, lens, image format and manufacturer’s measurement reference before confirming installation details. The calculator does not assess brightness, lens compatibility or installation clearance.
