Projector Hire — Let Us Help You Choose the Right Equipment
Not sure which projector you need? Call ProScreens on 07876 755357 and talk us through your event.
You do not need to know model numbers or technical specifications. Tell us what you want to show, your screen size and how much space you have, and we will help you choose a suitable projector.
With over 30 years of cinema projection and audio visual experience, we consider screen size, room lighting, lens choice and the distance between the projector and screen to recommend equipment that suits your event.
29 Different Types of Projector
Across our Hampshire and London warehouses, ProScreens offers 29 different types of projector, from presentation projectors for laptops through to professional digital cinema equipment and traditional 35mm film projectors.
We supply projection equipment for meetings, conferences, private screenings, outdoor cinema, film and television shoots, backdrop projection and corporate events.
For professional cinema screenings, we can supply digital cinema projectors and cinema servers to play Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs), the format used by commercial cinemas. We also offer traditional 35mm film projection and experienced projectionist services.
Why We Quote for Your Particular Setup
Choosing a projector involves more than picking a machine from a price list. A projector suitable for a small meeting may be unsuitable for a large cinema screen. Equally, projecting from the back of a hall may require a different lens from a position close to the screen.
Your quotation depends on the projector and lens required, screen size, lighting conditions, playback equipment, hire duration and the delivery, installation or technical support you need.
Give us a call before booking. Even an approximate screen size and projection distance will help us get started. If you are unsure, photographs of the venue can also help us assess the options.
Equipment, Setup and Peace of Mind
We can provide a complete setup with a suitable screen, sound system, playback equipment and connection cables. Delivery, installation and an experienced technician can be included in your quotation.
For events, we normally bring a backup projector as an added precaution. We will confirm the backup arrangements and technical support included in your particular booking.
Projector Hire Questions and Answers
Is it better to hire or buy a projector?
If you regularly use a projector in the same room, buying a suitable model may make sense. For an occasional meeting, special event or cinema screening, hiring gives you access to professional equipment without the purchase cost, storage and maintenance responsibilities.
Hiring from ProScreens also gives you advice on choosing the right projector and lens, with setup and technical support available for your event.
Why not buy a cheap projector online?
A budget projector may be adequate for casual viewing in a small, dark room. However, it may struggle to produce a bright, clear picture on a larger screen or in a venue where the lights need to remain on.
Resolution alone does not tell you how well a projector will perform. Brightness, lens quality, screen size and room lighting all matter. Advertised brightness figures can also use different measurement methods, so they should not automatically be compared like for like.
Can you help me choose the right projector?
Yes. Tell us what you are showing, where your event is taking place, your screen size and approximately how far the projector can sit from the screen. We will explain the suitable options in plain English.
What is throw distance, and why does it matter?
Throw distance is the distance between the projector lens and the screen. Together with the lens specification, it determines the image size you can achieve. Choosing the correct lens helps the picture fit your screen from the available position.
Can I use a projector in daylight?
Projection works best when light falling onto the screen is controlled. Direct sunlight can wash out even a powerful projector. Outdoor cinema screenings usually need to take place after dusk. For daytime outdoor events, an LED screen may be a more suitable option.
Do you bring a backup projector?
We normally bring a backup projector when providing event projection. Arrangements depend on the equipment and service booked, and we will confirm what is included in your quotation.
Can you connect my laptop?
We can provide suitable cables and adapters once we know which laptop or playback device you are using. Please tell us in advance, particularly if your device uses USB-C or requires a specific adapter.
Do you supply screens and sound equipment too?
Yes. We can supply projector screens, speakers, microphones and playback equipment alongside your projector, with delivery, setup and technicians available as required.
Do you offer DCP and 35mm cinema projector hire?
Yes. We offer professional digital cinema projectors and servers for DCP playback, alongside traditional 35mm film projectors and projectionist services. Contact us to discuss your film format, venue and screening requirements.
How much does projector hire cost?
The price depends on your venue, screen size, projector and lens requirements, hire duration and level of support. Call us with your event details and we will provide a quotation explaining what is included.

What to Tell Us When Hiring a Projector
To help Proscreens recommend a suitable projector and provide an accurate quote, please share the following information:
- Event date and hire duration — let us know when your event takes place and how long you need the equipment, including any time required for setup.
- Venue address and room lighting — tell us whether your event is indoors or outdoors, and whether daylight or room lighting can be reduced. This helps us assess the projector brightness needed.
- Screen size — let us know the size of your screen or projection area and whether you need us to supply a projection screen.
- Distance between the projector and screen — an approximate measurement helps us choose a suitable projector and lens. For smaller spaces, a short-throw projector may be an option.
- What you’ll be connecting — tell us whether you’re using a laptop, phone, Blu-ray player, games console or another device. We can check connections and advise on cables and adapters. If your content is on a USB stick, please check playback compatibility with us beforehand.
- What you’ll be showing — presentations, detailed spreadsheets, films and gaming can have different requirements.
- Sound and technical support — let us know whether you need speakers, microphones, delivery, installation or a technician to help during your event.
